What the job entails

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will help build and evolve the scalable backend systems behind an advanced simulation platform. You will work across backend services, cloud infrastructure and high-performance computing, contributing to solutions that support increasingly demanding simulation workloads.

Your responsibilities will include designing and improving web APIs, simulation data management and task pipelines, as well as strengthening integrations between backend services, schedulers and Python-based tools. You will help develop hybrid cloud compute and storage capabilities that connect cloud platforms with on-premises HPC environments, and contribute to the operation and optimisation of compute clusters.

Working closely with infrastructure and engineering teams, you will help improve platform reliability, performance and scalability. The role suits a curious, adaptable engineer who takes ownership, shares ideas and is motivated to learn new tools and technologies.

Key requirements / What we look for

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or computer engineering.

• Professional backend development experience with Java, Python and/or C++.

• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, web APIs and distributed systems.

• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Linux and infrastructure automation.

• A responsible, humble and curious approach, with the ability to learn quickly.

• HPC, scientific computing or simulation experience is advantageous.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary of USD 85,000–100,000, depending on experience.
